There are three different ways you can use Bookmarkcount.com.
Browse it! If you are a business owner, Bookmarkcount is a valuable resource, collecting together many success stories and cautionery tales from business owners like you. Experiences are grouped into categories for easy reference and if you want to learn more about a story, you can always click on the Discuss button to ask questions. Why not email the story via the Tell a Friend feature? If you have started or belong to any Community Groups, you can also share the story with them if it's relevant to that group. Don't forget, if a story has helped you, it may help others - Vote it up! Found a spammy article that doesn't match our community guidelines? Vote it down and help make Bookmarkcount a better place!
Share your story! You can share your story via your website/blog. If you are a business owner you will probably be aware that having your own blog is a valuable resource, allowing you to build your brand and customers in a more personal way. If you have a blog or website where you've featured a story about your start up, why not share it on Bookmarkcount and get more people visiting your site? Simply write a small paragraph (3-4 lines) and people can read the rest at your website or blog.
Tell the whole story! You can write the whole story from Bookmarkcount.com. You may have a story you want to tell about the frustrations and satisfactions of being a small business owner, but you don't think it is relevant to your website or blog - or you prefer to share anonymously.
At Bookmarkcount you have up to 7000 characters (including spaces) to tell your story! This means you can share your story at Bookmarkcount, and instead of linking to your own blog, or site, you can link back to our website. To share your experience online, just click on the area you'd like to add your story to, e.g. Funding or Legalities, and use that link for your story's link. Why not Submit a New Story right now?
How will Bookmarkcount help me get more traffic to my website or blog?
That's up to you. Bookmarkcount.com is a tool for you to use to boost your visibility as a brand. This online community for entrepreneurs makes it easy for you to tell your story and link directly to your website or blog. If people visiting bookmarkcount.com like what you've written they may click on your link to read the rest of the story. They may also choose to vote up the story so that it stays high in the rankings and more people get to see it. You could also receive comments and you may be invited to join community groups relevant to the story you've told. The key point is that it's your community and it's up to you how many stories you post and how much you interact with other business owners. If you want to make new friends and customers it makes sense to comment on other people's business stories and to start community groups in order to raise your profile and credibility.
I don't want to put our business stories on my company or personal website or blog - can I still tell my story?
Yes, you can. You don't have to add any content to your own website or blog in order to use Bookmarkcount.com. You have up to 7000 characters (including spaces) to tell your story within Bookmarkcount - that's a lot of space! Can I link to promotions and offers within my story?
No. We want to ensure that Bookmarkcount.com members have a pleasant, spam-free experience. There is nothing less interesting than reading a lot of posts that are simply trying to sell you something. That's why you can only provide one link for each story - and that's to your website or blog.
What you are selling on Bookmarkcount is your own experiences of running a start up. Maybe you have a story about raising capital for your venture - what advice would you give? Perhaps you had to close a business - how did it feel and what was the process? By sharing and helping others you will build brand loyalty far more effectively than simply posting links to things you want to sell. The only link you should provide is one to your website or blog - and of course, you are free to sell whatever you want once they are there!
